I am looking at the digital camera department so much simply because I too want a new digital camera. So I am just browsing to see what fits my budget and purpose, but no worries, other interesting gift ideas are coming up very soon!

This digital camera looks really neat. It has cool colors, and has pretty nifty specifications! At only USD$152.90, you get these features:

• 12.1 megapixel digital camera
• 5X zoom lens
• 1280 X 720 pixels for HD recording
• 2.7 inch LCD screen

Of course it has the other usual functions that other digital cameras have, such as anti-shake mechanisms and automatic face detections.

It looks really neat for a pocket-sized camera, and I do recommend getting one for your boyfriend, girlfriend or yourself!

A digital camera is always a good gadget to have to keep those memories of your love alive! And if your partner or you do not own a camera, it is time to get one really, as there are many other ways to make a gift out of photos.

To me, it is a little pricey for a gift, and I would recommend a cheaper alternative, like the Nikon CoolPix P100 instead.

It will be a very nice surprise when you give your beloved a top notch camera just at its launch.

The above is a video review of Apple’s iPod touch, the 3rd Generation of its series.

As many people know, Apple’s iPod touch looks almost identical to the iPhone, and has many similar functions, but the former just can’t be used for calling your friends.

You can do a ton of things within Apple’s iPod; it is an mp3 player, you can surf the Internet with it by tapping into a wireless network, you can play games in it, and it can be a digital organizer with great applications for the business man.

Apple’s iPod touch is almost a mini-laptop, except that you will never want to type documents in it.

And as the 3rd generation of this series has been launched recently, the newer versions of Apple’s iPod touch, the 32GB and the 64GB versions, comes with better capabilities than their predecessors.

Sadly, it is said that the 8GB still used the older version of capability like its predecessor. However, in terms of functionality, even the 8GB Apple iPod touch is still one of the best handheld gadgets around yet.

Cons of Apple’s iPod touch

The only con I can think of is that touch screens are not the best platform to type words or letters, and if our hands or fingers are little too big, mistakes will be easily made while typing.

That is one of the reason why I always hesitate to get touchscreen gadgets. And even after a long while, I still don’t get used to it.

Still, it isn’t a great reason enough not to get an Apple’s iPod touch, as there are so many functions in just one little piece of gadget.

How to make an even greater gift with this Apple iPod touch

Record a video love message, or a love song of you singing for him and put it in the gadget.

I know of a lady friend who sang a love song, burned it into a CD, and gave it to her boyfriend. Her boyfriend loved it!

However even if you can’t sing, just give a simple love message to him and record it, and it should impress your boyfriend or husband’s heart!

If any guy is reading this, it should melt your girlfriend or wife’s heart too!

However, Nintendo has released a new version for its handheld gaming console, the Nintendo DSi. Let’s see if its a great gift idea for your boyfriend or husband, especially if he already owns a Nintendo DS Lite.

First of all, let me introduce you to Nintendo DS Lite, if you do not know anything about it.

Actually, the above video didn’t mention even an ounce of how great this handheld gaming console is.

In my post, “Gadgets for men: Playstation Portable 3000 (PSP 3000)“, I mentioned that I am a fan of Sony’s PSP, and it is mainly because of the final fantasy series that it offers.

However, in terms of great and innovative gameplay, the Nintendo DS series win hands down.

Due to its stylus and its unique 2 screen system, I fell in love with great games such as Zelda, which proved to be a great Role-Playing game that provides great interactivity for great entertainment.

Imagine you could throw a boomerang and draw its trajectory path with your stylus; you are not limited to the physical limits of the D-pad and buttons anymore!

Or you could write notes onto your screen to jot down important points during your game play.

This is a video that shows how you can play a great game with stylus, and the game is Zelda, the Phantom Hourglass.

If you played Guitar Hero on Nintendo DS, you will realize you do not need to invest of many hundreds of dollars just to buy a drum set and a guitar to play the game; with a custom made Guitar Hero controller that comes with a handstrap and a pick, and you could enjoy the mini-version of Guitar Hero!

Many girls and ladies really enjoy the Nintendo DS Lite, so if you aren’t getting it for your boyfriend or husband as a gift, consider getting it for yourself!

Nintendo DS Lite is cheaper than DSi currently, so it will be great to save some cash as well!

Nintendo DSi Review

The above is a video review on the newest Nintendo DSi.

The Nintendo DSi isn’t very much different in terms of specifications, just that it has added video cameras for you to have fun with photos, and possibility of future games that may use the video cameras.

Also, it has brighter and wider screens, a major interface revamp from the old Nintendo DSi, and you can shop for games and applications within the Nintendo DSi from the Nintendo Online store.

However in my personal opinion, these upgrades aren’t worth the buy for a new Nintendo DSi if you already own a Nintendo DS Lite, unless you saw games that needed video cameras and you are desperate to land your hands of them.

Also, the Nintendo DSi has a shortfall; it doesn’t support Gameboy Advance games anymore, unlike the Nintendo DS Lite.

However, if you or your boyfriend do not play Gameboy Advance games, it doesn’t matter at all.

Nintendo DSi isn’t very expensive now, so if you do have spare cash, you should just invest on it. Otherwise if you already have a Nintendo DS Lite, I do not recommend upgrading it to a Nintendo DSi.

Flaws of Nintendo DS Lite and Nintendo DSi

The only major flaw for both Nintendo handheld gaming system is that it has much lower capabilities than PSP.

As I have mentioned in my post, “Gadgets for men: Playstation Portable 3000 (PSP 3000)“, PSP offers the best graphical capabilities and processing power to date, and playing movies is a breeze.

Instead, both Nintendo DS Lite and DSi may excel in gameplay, but not in multipurpose functions like watching videos.

So if you do want a gift for your boyfriend or husband that allows him to watch movies while having a great game in the midst of travelling, Nintendo DS Lite and DSi may not suit him.

I thought to myself, “Why not?”

I have heard of girls and ladies getting their boyfriend or husband mobile phones as a gift, so a Straight Talk Wireless Plan shouldn’t be too far off the mark.

However, I will only recommend Straight Talk Wireless Plans as a last minute gift, if you really have nothing else to buy for your boyfriend or husband.

Read on to find out why.

Last minute gift ideas: Straight Talk Wireless Plans

First, let me introduce you to Straight Talk Wireless Plans.

Walmart, the famous corporation that runs a huge chain of department store, has introduced one of the best “no contract”, prepaid wireless deals for America.

As you can see from the image, Straight Talk introduces a very competitive deal for consumers.
At USD$30 for one month, you can have:

• 1000 minutes of talk time (That’s more than 16 hours for a month!)
• 1000 texts, be it SMS or MMS
• 30MB Mobile Web Access

I am not so sure about the “calls to 411″, as I am not a United States (U.S.) citizen, maybe someone will enlighten me through the comments page.

However, by any standards, it should save you money if you are an avid mobile phone user.

It’s just a pity that Straight Talk doesn’t include international roaming rates and unused talk-time with texts roll-over.

However, the 30MB mobile web access should compensate a little if you want to stay contactable with overseas friends.

And if you pay an extra USD$15, at USD$45 you get everything they offer at an unlimited rate for a month. It can even replace your landline telephone service!

Now the above deal is only for U.S. citizens, as their coverage is only for their country.

Opinions and recommendations

However, like I have said in the beginning, I recommend this gift idea only as a last minute gift idea, for some reasons.

#1: Your boyfriend or husband will easily know how much you have spent for their gift.

It is easy for your boyfriend or husband to realize how much you spent, as Walmart is a place that many people frequent.

So it doesn’t bring out the romance in the gift, if you are planning to give a Straight Talk Wireless Plan for your boyfriend or husband.

Of course, a gift isn’t about how much you should or should not have paid, so don’t worry too much about the value of the gift you have bought.

#2: Giving just the Straight Talk Wireless Plan seems incomplete; consider buying a mobile phone for your boyfriend or husband too.

Well, I personally will find it amusing for my girlfriend to buy me a mobile phone service plan, without getting a mobile phone for me.

Yes, it may be noted that I might be using a great mobile phone currently, and that I might not need another mobile phone at present.

However, in my personal opinion, the gift is incomplete without the mobile phone. It just gives the “something is still lacking” kind of feeling.

If you bought a mobile phone without a service plan, it doesn’t seem incomplete at all, so consider getting a mobile phone as a gift instead if you want to give a great gift for your boyfriend or husband.

For your information, Straight Talk doesn’t have a wide variety of phones they are offering yet.

With only 8 mobile phones to choose from at this time of post, at their website, you may not be able to find the perfect mobile phone you want to give to your boyfriend or husband.

However, Straight Talk do offer the Samsung R451C and the Samsung R810C, which still looks pretty decent to me. I personally have not checked up on it yet, but you could consider either of the two phones for a good gift.
